Synopsis
A pact among women reshapes life in an isolated 19th-century village
In 1852, after the violent suppression of a republican uprising, the women of a remote French village are left without their husbands, fathers and brothers. As months stretch into years, they grapple with loneliness, labour and the fear that no man may ever return.
