Olivia Wilde, like many actors, can thank American teen drama television for kickstarting her career. She appeared in a recurring role in “The O.C.” (2004–2005), as well as having parts to play in the likes of “The Girl Next Door” (2004) and “Alpha Dog” (2006). From there, Wilde bagged blockbuster projects like “Tron: Legacy” (2010) and “Cowboys & Aliens” (2011) before taking on a bumper role in the hit TV show “House” (2007–2012) alongside Hugh Laurie. What followed was an impressive run of credits in acclaimed dramas like “Rush” (2013), Spike Jonze’s eerily prescient “Her” (2013), and Clint Eastwood’s “Richard Jewell” (2019). Not content with being brilliant on-screen, Wilde then tried her hand at directing, with her feature debut, “Booksmart” (2019), which took the world by storm. After that, she enjoyed a big year in 2022, during which time she offered up another directorial effort with “Don’t Worry Darling” (2022) as well as appearing in Damien Chazelle’s “Babylon” (2022) and lending her voice to the character of Lois Lane in “DC League of Super-Pets” (2022). She stars in her second directorial effort, “The Invite” (2026), a comedy featuring the likes of Seth Rogen, Penelope Cruz, and Edward Norton.
