Prolific actor of stage and screen Sam Spruell first appeared on screen in the historical thriller “K-19: The Widowmaker” (2002) before going on to appear in movies such as “The Hurt Locker” (2008), “Snow White & the Huntsman” (2012), “Taken 3” (2014), and the gangster drama “Legend” (2015). He starred alongside Chris Pine and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in “Outlaw King” (2018) before appearing in the noir thriller “The Hanging Sun” (2022), which premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival. He acted alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in “The Thing with Feathers” (2025) and appeared with Claire Foyn and Brendan Gleeson in “H is for Hawk” (2025), both of which marked his turn toward drama. Spruell has starred in a number of British series, such as “The Runaway” (2011), “Mayday” (2013), “The Last Ship” (2014–2015), and “Liar” (2020). He notably appeared in the Steve McQueen-directed “Small Axe: Mangrove” (2020) and the miniseries “The North Water” (2021) starring Colin Farrell. One of his most memorable television roles comes in the series “Fargo” (2023–2024), where he starred as Ole Munch. He also guest starred in “Dune: Prophecy” (2024) and appears as Prince Maekar Targaryen in “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” (2026).
