Kate McKinnon is a bona fide comedy legend thanks to her work on “Saturday Night Live” (2012–2022) over many years. A regular cast member and an astounding impressionist, McKinnon has entertained audiences on the small screen for over 200 episodes of the hit sketch show. She has gradually worked her way into big screen projects, though. She popped up in “Ted 2” (2015) briefly, before bagging more substantial roles in “Sisters” (2015) alongside fellow SNL alumni Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, and voicing characters in animated hits like “The Angry Birds Movie” (2016) and “Finding Dory” (2016). However, her biggest role to date came in Paul Feig’s “Ghostbusters” (2016) reboot, where McKinnon was the life of the party as Jillian Holtzmann. Since then, McKinnon has had supporting roles in comedies like “Office Christmas Party” (2016), “Rough Night” (2017), and “The Roses” (2025). She also stole the show in “Barbie” (2023) as the eccentric doll living away from society in Barbieland, helped Mila Kunis avoid assassins in “The Spy Who Dumped Me” (2018), and also had a supporting role in “Bombshell” (2019).
