Sam Rockwell is a wildly versatile actor who is always incredibly fun to watch. More often than not, Rockwell loves to throw himself into wacky roles, from sci-fi comedies like “Galaxy Quest” (1999) and “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” (2005) to his memorable, scene-stealing turn as Justin Hammer in “Iron Man 2” (2010). However, he’s shown his more serious side in flicks such as “Moon” (2009) – where he actually plays two characters – and epic period pieces like “Frost/Nixon” (2008) and “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” (2007). Rockwell usually has a very likeable screen presence, especially in his frequent collaborations with Martin McDonagh for dark comedies “Seven Psychopaths” (2012) and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbings, Missouri” (2017), but he’s also played one of the most despicable villains you’ll ever meet, as Wild Bill Wharton in “The Green Mile” (1999). One performance Rockwell doesn’t get enough appreciation for is his supporting role in coming-of-age drama “The Way Way Back” (2013), while you might not have even noticed he lent his vocal talents to animated hits like “The Bad Guys” (2022), “G-Force” (2009) and TV show “F is For Family” (2015–2021).
