Beginning his career as an actor starring in movies such as “Gods and Generals” (2003) and "Attitude" (2003), Scott Cooper transitioned into directing with his feature film debut, “Crazy Heart” 2009), based on the life of musician Hank Thompson. His crime thriller “Out of the Furnace” (2013) had a star-studded cast led by Christian Bale but that also included the likes of Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Willem Dafoe, and Zoe Saldana. He directed the crime drama “Black Mass” (2015) and the historical drama “Hostiles” (2017) before directing the supernatural horror movie “Antlers” (2021). Cooper followed that up with the gothic mystery thriller “The Pale Blue Eye” (2022), starring frequent collaborator Christian Bale in the lead role. Teaming up with Jeremy Allen White, Cooper wrote, directed, and produced the music biopic “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere” (2025).
