Apr 10 - Motorcity (2021)

The setting of "Motorcity" is Detroit, its ostensible subject the local amateur drag racing scene. The film goes beyond an examination of the sport. Over a period of two years, the camera follows John Quick, Carter & Son Racing and Karri Anne Beebe on their individual quest for a few tenths of a second. Starting from this first level, further encounters take place, and sport itself becomes a hub at which questions about the rise and fall of an entire city, about the relationship between techno and car racing, and ultimately about the self-image of a European view of an American form of life can be negotiated.
