Gully Boy (2019)

A story about a slum-dwelling underdog rising up and carving his name in the Indian Hip Hop scene.

Murad, a young student with a passion for rap music, lives with his family in a claustrophobic slum with his abusive father, Aftab. Forced to work part-time as a driver after Aftab is injured, Murad starts writing about the many socioeconomic displays of power around him. He befriends a local rapper MC Sher, who encourages him to record what he has written. From there on, we see his rising journey, slowly hustling his way up to the rap game and chasing his dreams while navigating all the challenges of poverty, an abusive father and a possessive girlfriend.
