You don't become a mountain doctor, you are born a mountain doctor. It is a vocation, not a profession. Even if Dr. Martin Gruber resisted it for a long time and didn't want to admit it: He is the new mountain doctor. Dr. Martin Gruber grew up in the small mountain village of Ellmau. He decided early on that he wanted to become a doctor and turn his back on the idyllic village. He went to Munich to study and did his clinical training in Paris, after which New York became his second home, where he worked as a clinician in an emergency room. Five years after his last visit to his family in Ellmau, Martin wants to surprise his mother Elisabeth Gruber on her birthday.
