In 1973, a wildlife volunteer travels to an abandoned island in order to research a strange flower

In the remote setting, the volunteer’s grip on reality begins to slip as the power of the island transforms her vision. Observing the flower and the accompanying lichen, the volunteer is led away from her task and toward the dark phantoms that reach from illusion into truth.
