Twins discover their mother’s violent past amidst civil war in drama set in the Levant 

When eccentric mother Nawal unexpectedly dies, her Canadian twins are passed two letters, addressed to a half-brother they weren’t aware of before, and their father, who they thought had died. Jeanne returns to the Levant to pass on the letters, though Simon resists, at first. Eventually, they learn of their mother’s involvement in a bloody civil war, the violence she suffered, and a disturbing truth about their long-lost relatives.
