The Tin Drum (1979)

Anti-war comedy follows Oskar, a child who refuses to become an adult

Oskar, a precocious child with the ability to shatter glass using his voice, is disgusted with adults’ capacity for violence and refuses to grow up. Instead, he plays his drum, given to him by his mother in return for being born, takes lovers, and witnesses the rise of the Nazi Party. As World War Two begins, Oskar goes on tour with a performing troupe and encounters the war throughout Europe.
