After becoming a suspected criminal, Shawn avoids jail time by telling police that he has psychic powers. However, Shawn is warned by the chief of police that if his powers are discovered to be fake, he will be prosecuted. To establish a convincing ruse, Shawn and his best friend Gus set up a psychic private detective agency, leading them to becoming consultants to Head Detective Carlton ‘Lassie’ Lassiter.
